At Ascension Episcopal Day School, our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, creatively, physically and spiritually. We provide this by establishing a supportive Christian setting that is developmentally appropriate. Drawing on Montessori, Reggio, and other best practices, we provide children with a foundation for productive and fulfilling lives. We model love and respect for God, self, others, learning, and the earth. We hope to meet the community’s need for high quality early childcare and education, and to introduce families of the community to the services and mission of our Parish.
The daily schedule consists of alternating quiet and active periods, self-directed play (exploration), and organized small group activities. All lead teachers have at least a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Our assistant teachers are also highly trained and experienced child caregivers. All staff members participate in continuous training to keep updated on current research and practices.
Parents are informed daily about classroom happenings and their child’s participation, as well as through parent conferences where we discuss developmental milestones. There are also Day School school events that parents are invited to attend, such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Jubilee (our children’s fair), and the Christmas Program. Parents can also participate by joining our Parent Association.
The Day School strives to be an informed and close community where open communication and sharing of ideas is essential to help maintain the high quality care provided for all students.
