Hello, my name is Shannan Trice, and I am excited to step into the role of Lead Infant Teacher.

I began my journey at AEDS in May 2022 as the Primary Assistant in the infant classroom, following 20 wonderful years as an in-home daycare provider. Caring for children has always been more than a job to me—it’s my passion, my calling, and a major part of who I am. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to continue doing what I love every day.

I bring a heart full of love and a spirit of dedication to everything I do. I’m a proud wife, mother of four, and Nana to seven amazing grandchildren. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy dancing, playing bingo, and surrounding myself with the color green—my favorite!

Thank you for entrusting me with your little one. I am committed to always doing what’s in the best interest of the children in my care. It’s an honor to be part of your family’s journey through preschool.

Hello to all parents and families! 

I’m Maria Acosta-Saucedo, I am the Lead in the toddler room! As long as I have been working with AEDS, I have grown more LOVE in having a special place in my heart for children. I am delighted to be a qualifying part of their 1st year journey in life. Working with children always heals a part of my inner child and there’s nothing more than I want for yours. 

A little about me : I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology in Dec 2023 with an interest in Childhood Mental Health Development. I have 5+ years in childcare age ranging from infant to pre-k. I also love to be around friends, family and small white fluffy maltese named Isabella. In my free time I love to cook, clean, chill, babysit and more! I do it all! 

It’s my absolute pleasure to be apart of the village that create a positive impact on your child’s life here at AEDS! 

Hi! My Name is Mrs. Nina. I joined the AEDS family summer 2023. I am excited to be the Lead Teacher in the Preschool 2's classroom. I love working with the two’s and watching as they explore new things! A little about me, I am married, I have 4 children, and 9 grandchildren. I have been in the early childhood education field for over 30 years, serving many families along the way. I enjoy crafting, cooking and spending time with my family! I look forward to meeting you, and working with your child on their learning journey! 

Hello,  My name is Aniya Ellis, and I am SO excited to welcome you and your little ones to Pre-K3!

I graduated from Norfolk State University with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, and I joined AEDS in August 2024 in the Preschool 2’s classroom. As the primary teacher, I absolutely loved watching my students learn, grow, gain confidence, and become more independent. Now, I am beyond excited to continue that journey with our amazing Pre-K3 students!

My goal is to create a classroom where every child feels safe, loved, supported, and excited to come to school each day. Pre-K3 is such a special year filled with new discoveries, growing independence, big emotions, lots of questions, and SO much learning! I’m excited to create meaningful learning experiences where your little ones can explore, create, laugh, make friends, and build skills that will help them thrive.

Most importantly, I believe that children learn best when they feel loved, valued, and encouraged. I look forward to getting to know each child’s unique personality, interests, strengths, and needs—and getting to know each of you along the way! I truly believe that when teachers and families work together, we can make a wonderful difference in a child’s life.

I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, love, growth, and so many special memories! I can’t wait to watch your little ones shine and see all the amazing things they accomplish.

My name is Mrs. Montana Tii, and I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year. I began my teaching journey in 2014, teaching English to young children abroad. In 2016, I joined The Ascension family in the Preschool 4 classroom, where I had the privilege of learning from and working alongside incredible teachers and mentors who helped shape my approach to early childhood education.

After several meaningful years at Ascension, I briefly stepped away due to a family relocation related to my husband’s military service. I was delighted to return to Ascension in 2025, continuing my journey in the Preschool 4 classroom. 

I am now honored to serve as the Lead Teacher in Discovery Bridge and look forward to guiding your children through a year full of exploration, creativity, and growth.

 Hello, my name is Mrs. Portia. I am excited to be the  Lead Teacher for the Pre-K 4/5 classroom. I have worked at Ascension Day School since the opening in 2009. I attended Shaw University in North Carolina and have over 20 years experience teaching children. In my spare time I enjoy watching films and spending time with my husband. I am so looking forward to working with and teaching your children.
